The Chair Jean Monnet had the pleasure to invite, in the context of a lecture, Ms Georgette Lalis, former staff member of the European Commission and former head of the Athens office of the European Commission’s Task Force for Greece (2011-15). Ms Lali gave a particularly interesting lecture on : “The Europeans in Greece during the crisis: what went wrong“.
The lecture took place in the framework of the postgraduate course “European policy, international relations” of the Postgraduate Programme on “Governance and regional development”.

The event is organised by the Jean Monnet Chair “the Foundations of European integration: democracy, institutions and policies” in the framework of the postgraduate course “European policy, international relations” of the Postgraduate Programme on “Governance and regional development”.
Ms. Georgette Lalis studied law (University of Strasbourg). Between 1981 and2016, she was a civil servant for the European Commission and served as Director of Maritime Transport, Consumer Goods (medicines, vehicles, cosmetics, medical devices, biotechnology), innovation and Energy policy. Between 2011 and 2015, she was the head of the Athens office of the European Commission’ s Task Force team. She was a lawyer and, between 2001 to 2004 she was head of the Ktimatolgio/Hellenic Cadastre.

The Chair Jean Monnet “The Foundations of European unification: democracy, institutions and policies” invites you to the lecture by
Dr Georgios Kostakos
expert on issues of international governance and climate change, entitled: “from Rio 92 to the European Green Deal: Action against climate change at global and European level – achievements and challenges” to be held on Wednesday 8 January 2020 at 15.00 in room 319 (Law School building).
Dr. Georgios Koskakos (graduate of the School of Mechanical Engineering of the NTUA and PhD in international relations at the University of Kent -UK) has served with the UN Secretariat in New York between 2000-2012 and on UN missions around the world during the period 1994-96. He has also worked with the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and the University of Athens. In the last four years, he has been a thematic coordinator for climate action with the European consortium Neemo EEIG, which monitors the implementation of actions financed by the EU’s LIFE programme. He has co-founded and directs the Foundation for Global Governance and Sustainability (FOGGS) based in Brussels.

Αλέξανδρου Παπαϊωάννου, στελέχους του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών με θέμα: «Η μετάλλαξη του περιβάλλοντος ασφαλείας στην Ευρώπη και οι προκλήσεις για την Ελλάδα» που θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Παρασκευή 13 Δεκεμβρίου και ώρα 13.00 στην αίθουσα 212 (κτήριο ΝΟΠΕ).
Ο Αλέξανδρος Παπαϊωάννου σπούδασε Διεθνείς Σχέσεις στο London School of Economics και έχει μεταπτυχιακό δίπλωμα στην Ευρωπαϊκή Πολιτική και Διοίκηση από το Κολλέγιο της Ευρώπης, Μπριζ, Βέλγιο. Είναι διπλωματικός Υπάλληλος του Υπουργείου Εξωτερικών και έχει υπηρετήσει στις Πρεσβείες της Ρώμης, της Μόσχας, της Αγίας Έδρας, της Τύνιδας, καθώς και στη Μόνιμη Αντιπροσωπεία στην Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση. Εργάστηκε επίσης στα γραφεία του Υπουργού Εξωτερικών Γιώργου Α. Παπανδρέου και
του Υφυπουργού Διεθνών Οικονομικών Υποθέσεων και Αναπτυξιακής Βοήθειας, Μιλτιάδη Βαρβιτσιώτη. Έχει εργαστεί για πολλά χρόνια ως Σύμβουλος Πολιτικής στη Μονάδα Σχεδιασμού Πολιτικής στο Γραφείο του Γενικού Γραμματέα του ΝΑΤΟ και στη συνέχεια στη Διεύθυνση Πολιτικών Υποθέσεων και Πολιτικής Ασφάλειας του ΝΑΤΟ, όπου ασχολείτο πρωτίστως με τις σχέσεις με την ΕΕ. Από τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2019, είναι Διπλωματικός Σύμβουλος του κ. Γιώργου Κουμουτσάκου, Αναπληρωτή Υπουργού Προστασίας του Πολίτη για θέματα μετανάστευσης.
